Do you really want AI planning your vacations?
Forbes put AI to the test! ChatGPT, Gemini, and others were asked to plan a luxury trip to Switzerland. The results? Restaurants that don’t exist. Prices that were hundreds of dollars off. Itineraries that ignored the needs of the actual travelers.
And here’s the scary part - according to the researchers, the itineraries “looked polished and logical on the surface.” So, you wouldn’t even know it was wrong until you showed up.
But here’s what really gets me - is AI going to care when something goes wrong on your trip? Is AI going to call the airline at 11pm when your flight gets cancelled and your family is stranded? Will AI bail you out when things hit the fan?

12 Common Mistakes Families Make on Vacation
This article from Travel + Leisure is so good and honestly, I agree with every single point. This talks about spring break, but this goes for ANY family vacation. Three things that really stood out to me:
First — just because something is cheap doesn’t mean it’s the right choice. A bad hotel or a sketchy tour can derail your whole trip and end up costing you more in the long run when you’re trying to fix it.
Second — stop overstuffing your itinerary! I always tell my clients to book 1-2 activities per day MAX. You’re on vacation, not a race. Go at your family’s pace, leave room for spontaneous moments, and actually enjoy where you are.
Third — stop planning your trip around social media trends. Just because something looks gorgeous on Instagram doesn’t mean it’s right for YOUR family. You know your kids, you know your pace, you know what makes a good trip for you. Leave the algorithm out of it!
