Costa Rica

Costa Rica is renowned for its hospitality and safety — and the people here are some of the warmest I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Costa Ricans genuinely go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure your experience is one you will never forget.

Imagine soaking in thermal hot springs while sipping your favorite drink, zip lining above the canopy deep in the jungle, or learning to make chocolate straight from the rainforest. Spot sloths, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys, and sea turtles in their natural habitat — no zoo, no glass, just wildlife living alongside you. Costa Rica is beautiful, vibrant, and endlessly surprising. Just make sure to hide your snacks, or you might find a particular thief sneaking away with them!

It's also one of the most rewarding destinations in the world for curious travelers of any age. Whether you're planning a family trip, a couple’s getaway, or a multi-generational adventure, Costa Rica has a way of giving every single person exactly what they didn't know they needed.

I'm a certified Costa Rica specialist who has experienced this country firsthand with my own family. For anyone considering their first international trip, Costa Rica is the destination I recommend without hesitation.

Perfect for: Families, adventurous couples, multi-generational groups, first-time international travelers

Mexico

“Mexico is not a curious country to visit, but an inevitable country to meet.” — Carlos Fuentes

Mexico is where your family stops scrolling through travel photos and starts living inside one.

Picture your kids rappelling into a cenote hidden deep in the jungle, exploring the towering ruins of Chichen Itza, or swimming alongside whale sharks in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. These are the moments that make kids put their phones down. Trust me.

But Mexico isn’t just about adventure. Wander through colorful markets overflowing with handmade crafts and the best street tacos you will ever eat in your life. Watch the sun melt into the Pacific from a cliffside in Los Cabos. Swim in the turquoise waters of the Riviera Maya and then hop on a boat to explore hidden sea caves along the coastline.

From the ancient ruins of the Yucatan to the dramatic desert landscapes of Baja, the jungle cenotes of Tulum to the vibrant street life of Mexico City, Mexico rewards families who are curious enough to get off the resort and actually explore.

And the people? Some of the warmest you will ever meet.

Perfect for: Families, adventure seekers, multi-generational groups, foodies, history lovers, beach lovers

United States

My family and I have done countless cross-country road trips, and truthfully, this is my favorite thing to plan.

Instead of taking the kids to Disney to stand in line for hours, take them to the Grand Canyon. Cool off at Slide Rock in Sedona and then sleep in a wigwam on Route 66. Mount Rushmore, Big Sky Montana, the Everglades, the San Antonio River Walk — these are the places kids talk about for years afterward. Mine still do.

And road trips don’t have to mean hours of staring at the back of a seat. The stops along the way are half the trip. Spray-paint a junked car at Bug Ranch in Texas. See the world’s largest pistachio in New Mexico. Drive through towns with names like Surprise, Arizona, or Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, just so your kids can say they’ve been there.

The best part of a road trip is usually the part nobody planned. My job is to build the route so those moments actually happen.

Perfect for: Families, first big trips, multi-generational groups, anyone who’s been saying “someday” about the national parks

Other roadside stops worth knowing about:

  • Cadillac Ranch, Amarillo Texas — ten Cadillacs buried nose-down, bring spray paint

  • Meteor Crater, near Winslow Arizona— a mile-wide impact crater, genuinely stunning.

  • Stand on the Corner in Winslow Arizona - it’s such a fine sight to see!

  • Wall Drug, South Dakota — a tourist trap that’s become its own attraction, and one of

    my personal favorites!

  • Carhenge, Nebraska — Stonehenge built from cars

  • Blue Whale of Catoosa, Oklahoma — classic Route 66 roadside kitsch

  • Nothing, Arizona and Why, Arizona — both real, both good for a photo
