Our family trip to Costa Rica in 2025 was one of the best vacations we experienced and is a frequent topic of conversation to this day. There was truly something for everyone here - lots of adventure and time to relax. And yes, stray dogs come to visit whenever they want in the local restaurants!

Road tripping is a family favorite, and we're just getting started - two trips in, with plenty more planned. Horseback riding in Montana, sliding down Slide Rock in Arizona, wandering the Arches in Utah, spray-painting a car at Bug Ranch in Texas, airboat rides through the Everglades - seeing the country this way beats standing in a line at Disney any day!

A Day in Montreal
Some of our favorite memories come from saying "yes" to a good idea, even on short notice. We were camping up north, close to the Canadian border, when we decided a couple of days in - why not drive up and spend a day in Montreal? A few hours later we were wandering cobblestone streets, surrounded by old-world architecture and a completely different language and culture, without ever having to book a flight.

Here's the thing that made it possible: everyone's passports were already current and easy to find. If they'd been expired or buried in a drawer at home, that day trip simply wouldn't have happened. Keeping passports up to date, even when you have no international trip on the calendar, means you're never one expired document away from missing an opportunity like this. It's one of the simplest things I recommend to every family I work with.
